About DayMap
It Started with a Simple Frustration
Like many people who care about getting meaningful work done, I spent years trying to build my own productivity system. I cobbled together spreadsheets, word processors, calendars, and task lists, always hoping the next combination would finally work. I tried countless productivity apps along the way, but they all seemed to have the same problem: they organized one part of my life well while forcing me to manage everything else somewhere else.
Some apps focused on tasks. Others focused on projects. Some revolved around the calendar. Others became little more than digital notebooks. But that’s not how life works.
Your projects shape your schedule. Your schedule determines what you can realistically accomplish today. And your daily tasks are what move your projects forward.
So why should they live in separate places?
That simple question became the foundation for DayMap.
A Different Way to Plan
DayMap began as a passion project at Whetstone Apps with one goal: create the planning tool we wished already existed. Instead of making you jump between multiple screens or hiding everything except the item you’ve selected, DayMap was designed to let you see the whole picture at once. Think of it as a personal navigation system for your work and life.
Projects appear across the top of the screen, giving you an immediate view of everything you’re working toward. Under each project are the tasks and subtasks that move it forward. Alongside them is your weekly schedule, where tasks can simply be dragged and dropped onto the day you plan to complete them.
The result is something surprisingly simple: you can see your projects, your tasks, and your schedule—all at the same time— a clear picture of where you are, where you’re headed, and what needs your attention today.
Along the way, DayMap adds the features you’d expect—including recurring tasks, color-coded projects, subtasks, and intuitive drag-and-drop scheduling—but always in service of clarity rather than complexity.
Our philosophy has always been that software should get out of the way and let you work.
Why We Brought It Back
When DayMap was originally released, it developed a loyal following because it offered something that was surprisingly difficult to find: clarity.
Even after it was no longer available, one question continued to surface year after year:
“When is DayMap coming back?”
The technology has changed dramatically since then, but the problem hasn’t.
People still want a productivity tool that feels focused instead of overwhelming. Powerful without being complicated. Flexible enough for business owners, ministry leaders, students, professionals, families, and anyone trying to live with greater intention.
So we decided it was time.
Today’s DayMap has been thoughtfully rebuilt for modern Apple devices while remaining faithful to the ideas that made it valuable in the first place.
Our Philosophy
We don’t believe productivity is about squeezing more into your day. We believe it’s about making sure the things that matter most actually get done.
Technology should reduce friction instead of creating it. Planning should provide clarity instead of complexity. And a productivity app shouldn’t become another project to manage.
That’s why DayMap remains intentionally simple.
It helps you capture ideas before they’re forgotten, organize them into meaningful projects, plan when they’ll happen, and focus on the next step that moves your life forward.
